In 2002, Oliver was officially recognized as Canada’s Wine Capital during Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee Tour. This title honors Oliver’s significant contribution to Canadian viticulture, with the region cultivating nearly half of British Columbia’s vineyards and housing over 40 wineries.

Boats are only allowed on Osoyoos Lake to the south of Olvier. Tuc-el-nuit and Vaseaux lake allow non-motorized (canoe, kayak, SUP, floatie) access only.

Yes, the International Hike & Bike trail connects the Kettle Valley Railway (KVR) from the north of town near District Wine Village to the KVR trail head on Road 22 to the South of Town.

The International Hike and Bike Trail is a 18.4 km trail that is flat accessible and car free. The trail meanders along the Okanagan River channel. The section south of Oliver towards Osoyoos is gravel.

The north end of the trail is accessed at the parking lot on south side of Hwy 97, between Tucelnuit Drive and Island Road. The south end of the trail is accessed at the parking lot on Road 22, where you can continue further south to Osoyoos via the KVR.

Oliver’s biggest annual event is Wine Capital Weekend, held every third weekend in September. This annual community festival includes the Kick-off party at Distrcit Wine Village, Cask & Keg and the cornerstone event Festival of the Grape
