OTA Barrel Signage Program

Showcasing Our Business Community

As Canada’s Wine Capital and a destination for travellers from across British Columbia, Alberta and various parts of Canada, we have the potential to showcase the beauty and culture of Oliver, but also to collectively highlight the image of our Wine Capital through a consistent signage plan.

The Wine Barrel Signage speaks to the destination and the agricultural draw of the region while providing an image that brings attention to our local businesses.

With the many projects currently being undertaken to enhance Oliver’s place within the Okanagan, welcoming and themed signage is an opportunity to enhance the profile of our business community together.

Highlighting OTA Businesses

Our goal as OTA, is to provide the opportunity for all partners within the Town of Oliver and RDOS Area C, to be able to highlight their businesses with a beautiful wine barrel sign that will inspire both travellers and residents as part of a greater community revitalization project.

Objectives

  • To promote the beauty of Oliver and highlight our designation as Canada’s Wine Capital
  • To create a process for each business to obtain wine barrel signage.
  • Provide value added services to the community.
  • Support each member to develop their own branding for their sign through established partnerships.

Supporting the Community

The signage program has been created to support the community in obtaining barrels and the individual designs through a defined process that can be customized to their business needs.

How This Works:

We have created a price structure for both members and non-members which features an opportunity to align with industry partners to make pricing more accessible.

Wineries Donate Wine Barrels

OTA-member wineries donate barrels to help make Oliver’s downtown core look like Canada’s Wine Capital.

Advertising Opportunity for Wineries

Wineries pay $200 to have their logo appear at the top of each sign.

In response to this project, Town Council has passed a bylaw to allow for this type of secondary signage, making it the only way for wineries to advertise in Oliver’s downtown core.

Cost Saving Opportunity For Businesses

The $200 also offsets the production costs for businesses willing to include winery logos.

Businesses that do not want winery logos on their signs can pay the full production costs.

* One Time Fee For Businesses

Oliver businesses pay a one-time fee to produce their signs:

  • Wall mounted $168 (Mounted)
  • Wall Mount Metal L Bracket $ 100
  • Chain mounted, double-sided $336 (1 sided $168)
  • Roadside A-frame stand, double-sided $441 (One sided stand $273)
  • Clock $246.75 (wall or chain mounted)

The above fees include the costs of logo laser etching and GST. The OTA has secured competitive rates from local businesses to laser etch designs onto wine barrels.
