On Saturday, January 24th from 3-5pm, the Firehall Brewery will be hosting the Annual Firehall Hot Sauce Showdown!

The hot sauces will be tasted by a panel of judges and participating members of the public, followed by a communal tribute to the late and great hot wing hero, Chance Beauclair.

Customers will have two methods for tasting the sauces: tortilla chip, or toothpick (double dipping will be punished by waterboarding with the hottest sauce). The judges will judge the sauces according the following categories: Heat, Flavour, Colour, Consistency, and Aroma. The sauce with the highest score wins the saucier $50 cash and Firehall swag. Participating members of the public will choose their favourite by anonymous vote, with the People’s Choice Award winning the saucier Firehall Brewery vouchers and Firehall swag!

As the grand finale, a round of wings will be tossed in the sauce selected as the hottest by the judges, and all willing souls can join in raising a wing for Chance, before we communally ignite our taste buds.

Free to Attend.

Submissions: $10/entrant. Entrants must have FoodSafe certification, and prepare hot sauces in accordance with FoodSafe guidelines. A list of ingredients must be provided for allergy purposes (ingredients will be kept confidential). Each submission requires 250ml of sauce.

Donations can be made through the events page or at the event that will go straight to Chance’s children. More fundraising details to come.
