Breweries
Firehall Brewery
Fires have long left their legacy in the arid South Okanagan, claiming many historic buildings such as the “Big Teepee” Hotel in the old Fairview mining town. When the mines ran out of gold, the residents moved down to the young village of Oliver, where a newly built irrigation ditch brought different riches to the parched landscape: agriculture. The town of Oliver still stands, but the fire station siren is often heard screaming across town in the desert air.
In recent times, the volunteer firefighters built a modern fire station, leaving the original “Old Firehall” downtown in the heart of Canada’s Wine Capital. It is now the home of our brewery, where we pump out thirst-extinguishing ales with courageous flavour and alarming drinkability. Our passion for real craft beer is only rivalled by our love for music and the great outdoors.
Giants Head Brewing
Located in the charming town of Summerland, BC, Giant’s Head Brewery is all about crafting great beer with a local touch. Inspired by a love for simple, high-quality brews, they take pride in showcasing the unique flavors of the region.
Every pint is made with locally sourced ingredients, reflecting their commitment to sustainability and community. What really makes Giant’s Head special is their focus on creating beers that match what their customers love, making every sip feel personal. Our restaurant prides itself on a menu designed by a red seal chef that infuses local flavours.
If you’re a fan of great beer, and good food Giant’s Head Brewery is the perfect spot to enjoy a laid-back, flavourful experience that celebrates quality, community, and a true passion for brewing
Detonate Brewing
Detonate has come a long way since it first exploded into the emerging Summerland brewery scene in 2017.
The original owner, Nathan Rosin, founded the nano-brewery and the label became popular with locals around the valley. In 2022, Nate decided it was time to pass the torch and found a young, enthusiastic, budding brewer in Jonah Cadieux-Johnson. Jonah was fresh off a long cycling trip and ready for his next adventure. He was new to brewing but jumped in headfirst learning the trade under his new mentor Nate. He began operations with Nate and, absorbed all he could during his apprenticeship.
Now, after learning to brew and completely redoing the tasting room, Jonah is ready to bring Detonate back into the brewing scene with a mix of brews of original run and new beers of his own creation. Jonah says, “Detonate values the classics that many patrons love, but we aren’t afraid to take chances when it comes to mixing up new beers.” At Detonate, you’ll find something to meet everyone’s taste from a crisp clean pilsner to a sweet and zesty wheat ale to a thick dark IPA and a zippy taco beer.
While Detonate brews may not yet be on shelves in the liquor store, the taproom is open for tastings, growler fills, and an explosive time.
Backroads Brewing Company
Mountains or lakes, you decide. Two breweries in very different parts of BC
Check out our original location in downtown Nelson on historic Baker Street. Come by for a pint, see some local art, and a vibe that is unique to Nelson, but that will make you feel right at home. Or come join us at our Osoyoos location, just steps from Canada’s warmest lake. Enjoy some classic easy-going Okanagan living while you sip on one of our award winning freshly brewed batches.
Small batch goodness.
Small batches brewed frequently mean that we have a constant rotation of fresh beer on tap. Our taps host a wide variety of traditionally-inspired ales and lagers, all brewed to co-owner and Brewmaster, Mike, keen eye for quality and consistency.
Empty Keg Brew House
The Empty Keg Brew House is the dream of the husband and wife team of Kelly and Kyle Hall. Kyle was an avid homebrewer who kept his friends and relations happy for years by sharing his delicious beer with them. About 10 years ago, one of them said, “Your beer is so good — if you ever open a brewery you’ll never be able to keep the kegs full.“ And that was where the brewery’s name came from.
Empty Keg offers a rotating range of beers with something suited to every taste. Hall says his recipe book is the thickness of an encyclopedia and he has only just scratched the surface since he opened in May 2019. He likes to work with local ingredients as much as possible, including hops from Sunshine Valley Hops, which is 10 minutes away, and honey from local apiaries. He also makes hard seltzers on site and mixes radlers on demand. You’ll often find something barrel aged on tap and you’re always welcome to fill a growler to go. Bring yours or get one of theirs!
Three Lakes Brewing Co.
We are three ladies with a love for craft beer, the Okanagan and the outdoor lifestyle that goes along with both.
Mel and Cathy have been friends for about 20 years with a ton of ideas and an entrepreneurial vision always lurking within their conversations. After a hike and a beer in 2021, they decided it was time to go for it and create their dream of opening a craft brewery. They knew right away that Mel’s daughter Tara would be the perfect fit to join because for the past few years has been an assistant winemaker in Lake Country and Australia. Tara will be the brewer… helping to guide our craft beer program and perfecting our recipes with us.
We are all about creating quality while using local suppliers and ingredients as much as we can. The Three Lakes experience is being built upon the history and lifestyle of the Okanagan.
Cideries
Growers Cider Co.
The Growers Cider Company was established in 1927 in the District of Saanich British Columbia, which is located in Victoria. The company motto back then was “What Western Canada Makes, Makes Western Canada.” The first plant was built nearing the end of 1928 and was created as a means to showcase Canadian ciders and wines to the world. Today our motto is “Canada’s #1 Cider.” We can say this because it is true. Growers Cider is available across the country and has become Canada’s best selling cider. The Growers Cider Company is also a leader in flavour innovation. Through an extensive research process, we strive to bring you the latest and greatest, while still producing the staple flavours you have come to know and love.
Orchard Hill Estate Cidery
Since 2008, Orchard Hill Estate Cidery has been providing excellent hand crafted premium apple cider throughout the province – and continues to expand their geographical distribution!
Orchard Hill’s small family business is located between Oliver and Osoyoos on the Golden Mile bench. Shortly after Rd.22. The orchard is situated on a beautiful bench, where the sun frames the property early in the morning till late in the evening. The orchard produces 14 acres of high density and quality fruit bearing trees. Out of that 14 aces – 8 acres are purely dessert apples.
We at Orchard Hill like to only use dessert apples that are grown vastly throughout the Okanagan Valley – this creates a true Okanagan apple cider! We do not use any special cider apples, since we aim to boast the succulent flavors of pure Okanagan apples. Our product is being well received all across B.C and we are only expanding.
Orchard Hill is striving to bring their consumers quality, simplicity, and authenticity. Our practices are genuine, sincere, and honest. Due to the recognition of these values we have been growing ever since we first opened our doors. Our future goals are to experiment with new varieties and other tree fruits. With your support – we aspire to become more successful, further continuing with our value system, to provide excellent quality products to our consumers.

Kootenay West Distilling
A place for all in the heart of the Kootenays. Located in a lovingly restored heritage building, KWD is built on dreams and big ideas. Our founders Thomas and Ash Hodgson started their journey in 2018, the next four years were filled with lots of paperwork, and an absurd amount of drywall. The entire space was broken down and rebuilt by our head distiller and co-owner Thomas, look around our space, and everything you see will likely have been built or created by his two hands. If you decided to dine with us or pick up some of our non-alcoholic items those were created with care by Ash. Come visit our 50-seat lounge Friday and Saturday nights and see what Kootenay West Distilling has to offer.
Tumbleweed Spirits
You’d have to be crazy not to use ingredients from the most beautiful place on earth.
We take B.C. grains harvested at their peak, and the best Okanagan fruit and botanicals, and distill them using time-tested European filtration methods. After that, we proof them with artisanal spring water from our very own Anarchist Mountain. Then we taste them generously, to make sure they’re high quality enough for you. We’re good like that.
We don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story.
(But this one’s true.)
When Prohibition left Americans dry in the 20s, some wily Canadians risked life and limb to smuggle spirits down over Lake Osoyoos — most famous among them was notorious bootlegger-turned-charity-baron Joe Murphy. People still find bottles on the surface of the lake, from a scuttled bootlegging boat (our landlord found one). Here at Tumbleweed, just like our ancestors, we go to extraordinary lengths to help you get a little tipsy.

Sharpe Distillery
Launched in 2023, Sharpe Distillery is the product of many years of planning and hard work, all fuelled by a desire to honour the Sharpe family’s rich tradition and legacy within their local community.
More than just another faceless whiskey brand, Sharpe Distillery invites you to belly up and become part of the family as you learn about an authentic history that runs as deep in the distilling industry as it does in the area where the product is made.
Steeped in history without being stuck in the past, we craft our spirits using tried-and-true methods but with an eye towards innovation and experimentation.
We are proud of where we come from in Cawston, which is why we strive to use nothing but the best of what’s around in our very own backyard – including water from the Similkameen River.
With spirits ranging from unaged rye whiskeys, to botanical gins, to cherry vodkas, Sharpe Distillery is sure to offer something for everyone.
