Oliver and District Museum & Archives

We invite you to take part in your history, the history of your community, its ancestors and its happenings of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The Oliver and District Heritage Society operates both the Museum and Archive facilities in the Town of Oliver. Step back in time by entering the Fairview Jail (currently under revision), one of the few remaining intact buildings from our gold mining past! Downtown Heritage Walking Tours are also available in brochure form year round or by via a tour guide from June to August. For tour details contact the Museum.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19, the Museum and Archives are currently closed to the public. We are unable to accept artifact donations during this time.

The Oliver & District Heritage Society is a not-for-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors; we preserve and present the history of Oliver BC, Canada's Wine Capital, and surrounding district through exhibits, educational programming, heritage walking tours, and more.

The Oliver & District Heritage Society operates out of two different facilities:

  1. The Museum houses our exhibits and collection of artifacts
  2. The Archives houses our research library and archival materials.

They have different hours of operation, contact, and locations.
