SUMMARY:Plein Air Painting Workshop (Osoyoos Desert Centre)
DESCRIPTION:Join celebrated artist Dale Matthews in the iconic Antelope-brush landscape of the Osoyoos Desert Centre. Dale will demonstrate a wash technique\, drawing into a painting\, and various methods using frisket\, plastic cards\, knives\, and sticks. \nDale Matthews\, FCA was born in 1938 in Rossland\, BC. From an early age Dale preferred drawing and painting the mountains to digging gold from them. He completed high school in Rossland before attending the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University of Art + Design)\, receiving a degree in fine art in 1961. \n\n\nDale worked as a commercial artist and architectural renderer in Toronto and Edmonton before establishing his own interior design firm in Vancouver. He is now retired and living in Summerland\, where he is happy to devote his time to painting and traveling. His paintings reflect his love and passion for the outdoors as well as the heritage architecture of the west. Western artists such as Charlie Russell and William Matthews have been a great inspiration to him. Dale’s work has been exhibited at the National Gallery\, Ottawa; Deep Cove Gallery\, North Vancouver; Seymour Art Gallery; Vancouver Art Gallery; Summerland Art Gallery; Spruce Meadows\, Calgary; Tumbleweed Gallery\, Penticton; and the Penticton Art Gallery. His paintings are enjoyed in a number of private collections throughout Canada and the US. \n\n\nALL SKILL LEVELS AND MEDIUMS ARE WELCOME. To register call the office at 250-495-2470.

SUMMARY:Rollin' Coal Trio (Phantom Creek Estates)
DESCRIPTION:Rock n Roll Cover Group. Collectively\, Rollin’ Coal has been entertaining audiences for decades. Art Jacob is a very accomplished electric and upright bass player. He spent his early years on Canada’s east coast fine tuning his skills and is widely renowned as one of the very best in the Okanagan. Colin Moorman has toured Western B.C. over the years\, delighting crowds with his guitar and saxophone play. When Colin isn’t onstage performing\, he is busy teaching guitar\, bass and saxophone in the Kelowna area. Susan Ruuska’s voice was discovered by a local Kelowna resident who just happened to have a band\, and encouraged her to pursue singing. Susan did just that\, and was dubbed “a unicorn” by her vocal master class instructor\, due to her unusual alto/mezzo range.\nThis trio presents a retro vibe\, and wants to share their love of classic songs from the 50’s and onward. They will delight you with songs choices that will bring back memories and surprise you with new versions of old favourites that will have you applauding and asking for more!
