SUMMARY:Locals In Concert: Massey\, Mike Szalay (Firehall Brewery)
DESCRIPTION:Another great Locals in Concert event: Massey\, a talented band from Penticton\, with an opening set by Mike Szalay.\nMASSEY is a dark\, dreamy folk-pop band from Penticton\, BC led by Madison Whale and featuring Lisa Hughes\, Sean Petersen\, and Jared Jackel. Whale\, in her curiously confessional songwriting style\, explores the expanses encompassing heartache\, longing\, love and loss. Shining high above rolling country rhythms\, Whale’s voice is clear\, conscious and timelessly melodic- and you can count on some good wisecracks too. \nMike Szalay is a local singer-songwriter and front man of the folk-rock band Great White North. Influences range from the legendary songwriting of Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen to the more modern Jack White and Jason Isbell. With a mix of originals and classic covers both as a solo singer and in the band\, audiences are connected with familiar feelings of heartbreak and sorrow with very small amounts of hope and promise sprinkled in. \nEntry by donation. PLEASE NOTE that seating is first-come-first-serve. RSVPing on their website is highly recommended but does not guarantee a seat; it serves mainly as a way for the brewery to know you’re coming so they can staff properly and provide the best service possible. Arrive early enough\, between 6 and 6:30pm is recommended\, to get the best choice of seat before the fun begins at 7pm! And don’t forget donation cash for the band! SUMMARY:Naomi Shore (Firehall Brewery)
DESCRIPTION:One of Firehall’s favourite Canadian musicians: Naomi Shore! Naomi has just released her sophomore album ‘Stability’ which\, she has half jokingly categorized as Self-Help Songs. Over the last three years\, Shore has overcome her pandemic fuelled identity crisis and broken through her creative insecurities to record and release a brand new record. Naomi has said that these songs were written during some very challenging times over the last few years.\n“Most of the lyrics on this album started as little affirmations\, I was repeating to myself just to get through. I can’t speak for all artists but I know a lot of us really struggled with our sense of purpose and belonging when Covid shut everything down. Songwriting is the way I process my lived experience. It is how I find connection and validation. All I can hope for is that these songs will help someone\, anyone\, feel seen and understood.” \nEntry by Donation. \nPLEASE NOTE that seating is first-come-first-serve. RSVPing on our website is highly recommended but does not guarantee a seat; it serves mainly as a way for Firehall Brewery to know you’re coming so they can staff properly and provide the best service possible. SUMMARY:Locals in Concert: Kristi Neumann Band (Firehall Brewery)
DESCRIPTION:Locals in Concert: The Kristi Neumann Band with Stephen Toon. It all started with a good party… the members of the Kristi Neumann\, Stephen Toon\, and others found themselves at a late night jam not so long ago. They all had so much fun\, they decided to recreate it live at the Firehall!\nKristi Neumann is a gifted singer/songwriter who grew up in Montana and also spent much of her musical career in Nashville\, Tennessee. Kristi successfully carved out a place for herself in a town that does not forgive mediocrity. Armed with a growing catalog of self-penned tunes\, her prowess as a writer\, band leader and performer definitely turned heads. Kristi’s music is original and provocative. Her songs weave through themes that embrace both a wandering past and an optimistic hope for things to come. With perfect sensibility\, her introspective lyrics leave just enough room for well-crafted\, pop-friendly hooks. Neumann now resides in Oliver\, British Columbia. She has played a variety of venues as a solo artist and has recently joined forces with top notch local musicians Luke Whittall\, Greg Reely and Paul Henbury to form The Kristi Neumann Band. www.kristineumann.com \nStephen Toon is one-half of the musical couple that fronts the music group\, badgentina. Stephen and his lovely wife Lisa have been making wonderful music together for over 20 years. They write and perform heartfelt songs full of story and celebration\, like the tunes found on their most recent album release\, Dead Reckon (2019). www.toonmade.com \nEntry by donation. Please choose a table that matches your group size. Registration will close when tables and standing room are all booked. Please arrive by 6:30pm. At 7pm\, unclaimed tables will be released to walk-in customers.
