This special event is free for the public to attend\, offering a unique opportunity to witness the innovative creative process of Marco Esccer and Ysadora Dias. Venables Theatre\, in partnership with Dance West Network is supporting work being created by professional IBPOC artists\, allowing them the much-needed space to create\, and giving our community an opportunity to experience this creative process.\n\nAbout the Artists:\nSince 2021\, Marco Esccer (he/him) and Ysadora Dias (she/her) have been making waves in the interdisciplinary performance scene\, exploring themes of migration\, language\, family\, and queerness through their collaborative work. Their upcoming presentation will showcase excerpts prepared for the highly anticipated STAND Festival 2024\, giving audiences an exclusive preview of their evocative performances.\nMarco Esccer is a queer Mexican dance artist\, writer\, and Dance Movement Therapist with a rich background in both the technical and therapeutic realms of dance. Holding a bachelor’s degree in Ballet from Mexico City’s National Ballet and Contemporary School\, Marco’s diverse certifications include Research\, Experimentation\, Contemporary Art Production\, and Dance Movement Therapy. His work has been showcased with Co.Erasga\, Coastal City Ballet\, and Dance West Networks\, among others. Marco currently freelances as an artist and embodiment facilitator\, serves as Communications & Programs Coordinator at New Works\, and is the Artist in Residence at the Roundhouse for 2023-24.\n​Ysadora Dias is a Brazilian dance artist based in Vancouver\, with extensive training in contemporary dance\, ballet\, and Brazilian dances. A graduate of Escolas de Danças de Caraguá\, Ysadora has performed with CBMC Dance Company and the collective “Pé na Areia” in Brazil\, and with Coastal City Ballet in Vancouver. She is a member of Amok Project and has collaborated with several prominent artists and companies\, including Co.Erasga and MascallDance. Currently\, Ysadora is an artist in residence at Dance West Network’s Re-Centering Margins Creative Residency for 2024.\n\nAttend Venables Theatre on June 7th at 6:00 PM to immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Marco and Ysadora’s creative exploration. This open showing will provide glimpses of their innovative work\, along with a chance to engage directly with the artists\, ask questions\, and gain insights into their creative journey. SUMMARY:Hike for Hospice Oliver Community Park
DESCRIPTION:Annual Hike for Hospice on May 26 at the Oliver Community Park from 11:30 – 2:00 PM. Rebel Luv will be playing from noon until 2pm while hikers walk (or dance) around the park oval raising funds for Desert Valley Hospice Society. People can get pledges or pay a $10 registration fee to participate and will get a free hotdog and refreshment. The hospice society serves the communities of Oliver\, Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls. \nRegister as an Individual hiker\, get a team together of friends and family\, or challenge a co-worker\, local business or community group to help raise money for end-of-life care and grief support in the communities of Oliver\, Osoyoos\, and Okanagan Falls. Be as unique as you want to be! Dress up\, dress down\, bring your kids\, bring your dogs (on a leash)!  This is a family and dog friendly event. \nAll participants bringing pledges in will receive a free hotdog and refreshment at the event.  If you can’t get pledges you can still register and do the walk by paying a $10 registration fee ($10 includes your hotdog).\nPledge forms are available at Re/Max offices in Oliver and Osoyoos\, Royal LePage in Oliver\, Sonora Community Centre in Osoyoos\, Oliver Community Centre\, and at the DVHS house at 22 Jonagold in Osoyoos.
