SUMMARY:Open Mic Night
DESCRIPTION:Free admission! Firehall Open Mic & Jam Night is an opportunity for local musicians to perform their art in a public\, social setting in the Firehall Brewery brewpub! Open Mic & Jam Nights are an important part of every music scene\, to allow new musicians to flourish\, and seasoned musicians to hone their trade. Please keep in mind\, the “pub” environment may not always provide an attentive audience\, but capturing the crowd is all part of the challenge 😉 \n\nWe recommend performers RSVP so we know you’re coming! Table reservations are no longer available. \n\nFOR MUSICIANS – PLEASE READ \n\nPlease arrive around 6:30 and identify yourself to our host\, Mike Dallamore\, and let him know if you would like accompaniment (Open Mic style vs Jam style). He will find you a slot for you to play up to three songs. \n\nWe will have three microphones\, and a PA mixer with more than enough inputs for instruments. Small electric amps are permitted\, but they must be coordinated with the sound tech. Small percussion instruments are permitted. Bagpipes are stricly prohibited unless you are wearing a kilt… just kidding (though kilts are awesome). \n\nWe have no restrictions on genre\, though we insist that all performers respect that our space is family-friendly\, and we have a strict intolerance for prejudice or abusive material. \n\nFOR PATRONS – PLEASE READ \n\nPlease respect the musicians. They have worked hard to get up on the stage 🙂

SUMMARY:Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) Presented by SOAP Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) is an exuberant comedy and feminist revisioning of Shakespeare’s Othello and Romeo and Juliet. It takes us from a dusty office in Canada’s Queen’s University\, into the fraught and furious worlds of two of Shakespeare’s best-known tragedies\, and turns them upside-down.Constance Ledbelly is the beleaguered “spinster” academic\, and unlikely heroine who embarks on a quest for Shakespearean origins and\, ultimately\, her own identity. When she deciphers an ancient and neglected manuscript\, Constance is propelled through a very modern rabbit hole and lands smack in the middle of the tragic turning points of each play in turn. Her attempts to save first Desdemona\, then Juliet\, from their harrowing fates\, result in a wild unpredictable ride through comedy and near-tragedy\, as mild-mannered Constance learns to love\, sword-fight\, dance Renaissance-style\, and master a series of disguises… Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) a gender-bendy\, big-hearted and crazily intelligent romp\, where irony and anger sing in perfect harmony with innocence and poignancy.“Clever\, pointed and entertaining… This play is one of the wildest and wooliest feminist reappraisals that the theatre has seen\, and one of the most intellectually ambitious.”The Globe and Mail“Stratford-upon-Acid: that’s where MacDonald’s dizzying Goodnight Desdemona lives… MacDonald traipses through the canon with glee… Lots of clever fun.”The Village Voice \n\nTICKETS:\n\nAdults Advance: $24Adults Door: $26Students Advance: $16Students Door: $18 \n\nBuy Tickets Here

DESCRIPTION:For over 20 years\, Tim Nutt has been bending\, twisting\, and launching comedy into entirely new dimensions. \n\nHe doesn’t just tell jokes — he builds them. What starts as a simple story quickly spirals into explosive punchlines\, razor-sharp one-liners\, bizarre concepts\, and brilliantly twisted observations about everyday life. His comedy sneaks up on you\, builds momentum\, and then hits with laugh-after-laugh precision. \n\nOften compared to comedy greats like Billy Connolly and George Carlin\, Tim is a consummate storyteller and seasoned entertainer. His ability to weave clever writing with unpredictable angles makes every performance feel fresh\, dynamic\, and unforgettable. \n\nTim has appeared at major comedy festivals around the world\, including: \n\n• Just For Laughs – Montreal & Toronto• Winnipeg Comedy Festival• Halifax Comedy Festival• Edinburgh Festival Fringe• Just For Laughs National Tour• Hubcap Comedy Festival• Cat’s Laugh Festival (Kilkenny\, Ireland)• St. John’s Comedy Festival• Comedy Now• Stand Up in Kandahar (CBC) \n\nFrom international stages to sold-out theatres across Canada\, Tim Nutt continues to push comedy to explosive new levels — and this night is no exception. \n\nAnd for this special concert series event… he’s bringing friends. \n\nFeaturing:Joey Commisso \n\nJoey Commisso brings a unique comedic perspective with a sharply off-beat delivery that has delighted audiences across Canada\, the USA\, and Europe. A Vancouver Comedy Award nominee and performer at JFL Vancouver\, Joey’s quirky observations and unexpected punchlines make him a comedy experience you won’t forget. His ability to find humour in the sideways details of life keeps audiences leaning in — and laughing hard. \n\nChuck Byrn \n\nWith over three decades of professional stand-up experience\, Chuck Byrn is one of Canada’s most accomplished and road-tested comedians. He’s performed in every province and territory in the country and toured internationally\, including multiple overseas tours for NATO and the Canadian Armed Forces. Chuck has appeared on Just for Laughs\, Comedy Now!\, The Debaters\, Last Comic Standing\, the Halifax Comedy Festival\, and the Winnipeg Comedy Festival. \n\nHe also spent five seasons as Head Writer for CBC’s hit series Still Standing\, solidifying his reputation as both a top-tier performer and an elite comedy writer. \n\nHaving headlined major comedy clubs and theatres nationwide and featured on numerous IG Wealth Management Comedy Tours\, Chuck delivers polished\, high-energy comedy that connects instantly with any audience. \n\n\n\n\n\nTim Nutt & Friends is proud to be part of the Train Wreck Comedy Concert Series— bringing premier stand-up comedy experiences to audiences who appreciate the very best in live entertainment.
