SUMMARY:DBX - The Doobie Brothers Experience
DESCRIPTION:About the Performance\n\n“DBX – The Doobie Brothers Experience” – is Canada’s premier tribute to The Doobie Brothers. Look-a-likes of Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons with vocal similarities and soaring vocal harmonies\, are the band’s hallmarks and the foundation to which their performance has been built. With over 240 years of collective professional experience in the 6 piece band today\, their performances are as close to the real deal as you’ll ever get. \n\nWith one of the most “game-changing” song catalogues in rock and roll history from the Tom Johnston era to the Michael McDonald era\, “DBX” has evolved into a masterful celebration of The Doobie Brothers. All rock enthusiasts know the words to “China Grove”; “Long Train Runnin’ “; “What A Fool Believes”; “Black Water”; “Takin’ It To The Streets”\, or “Minute By Minute” and many\, many more. \n\nIf you love The Doobie Brothers\, then welcome to an evening with “DBX – The Doobie Brothers Experience”\, and “Listen To The Music”… \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVisit the DBX website here \n\nVisit the DBX Facebook page here

SUMMARY:Water Words
DESCRIPTION:About the Performance\n\nWater Words is a poetic theatre performance for young audiences that blends storytelling\, puppetry\, object theatre\, and live music to explore our relationship with water. \n\nTwo friends\, Mamby and Hélène\, live worlds apart: one in Senegal and the other in Canada. They both have burning feet\, one from hot sand\, the other from winter boots. Water separates them. One lives where there is an abundance of water\, snow\, and ice\, while the other must search for water and carry it home in buckets. \n\n“MAMBY: I think that water carries everything we say. Water understands all languages.” \n\nThe main character is water\, a precious liquid that is scarce in many places. Before our eyes\, Hélène and Mamby give life and language to water in its many forms: spring water\, well water\, salt water\, rainwater\, and more. They give voice to the challenges\, fears\, frustrations\, and worries that come with both the lack and abundance of water\, taking us from the Sahel region in West Africa to North America.

SUMMARY:"The Noise Between Our Ears" | Ron James
DESCRIPTION:About the Performance \n\nWith a seismic level of socio-political change shifting a reality we long took for granted\, what better way to process the cacophonous overload of stimuli than in the language of laughs. \n\n‘Fresh out of the wrapping’ content skewers everything from the tyrannical Tangerine Genie south of the border looking to turn us into the 51st state\, to aging Baby Boomers now but twenty years away from roaming ‘the home’ in their Led Zeppelin onesies\, just one more sing a long away from taking a Stairway to Heaven! Alongside these macro issues is a window on the daily trials of a technologically compromised ADHD addled adult\, who came of age in a day when a ‘hash tag’ was something you got after getting too close to the hash knives! Whether getting comedic mileage with classic bits on generational differences in families then and now; teacher terrors of public-school days; hand me-down hockey gear; party hearty camping trips with pals in those ‘bullet proof days of yore’\, there’s something for everybody. ‘Ultimately though\, ‘The Noise Between Our Ears’ sees Ron as the ever struggling ‘Everyman’\, doing his best to make sense of a world off kilter while bedeviled by forces beyond his control\, where airlines constantly lose luggage\, stock portfolios nosedive\, mortality’s the new reality and the barber spends more time trimming your ears than he does your head! \n\n“Utterly Brilliant” – Ottawa Sun; “a comedic tour de force” – Globe & Mail;  “a unique brand of funny all his own” – Winnipeg Free Press; “fits of helpless laughter” – Halifax Chronicle Herald; “hysterically funny … at the top of his game” – Toronto Star; “gut-busting\, knee-slapping funny” – Ottawa Citizen\, “funniest man in Canada” – Victoria Times-Colonist; “a wheezing\, snorting\, chortling\, gasping night of hilarity” – Edmonton Sun; “fast\, funny and smart” – Montreal Gazette; “simply the best” – Toronto Sun; “thunderous standing ovation” – Saskatoon Star Phoenix.

SUMMARY:All The Madmen
DESCRIPTION:About the Performance \n\nAll the MadmenBreaking the Silence\, from Beethoven to Bowie \n\n“The duty of an artist is to reflect their time. In this crucial period of our lives\, when everything feels so desperate\, when each day is a question of survival\, I believe we cannot do anything but mobilize.” \n\nThese words\, spoken by the incredible human and artistic force Nina Simone\, resonate today with a striking relevance. All the Madmen is conceived as a concert where the voices of some of the most influential artists in history resonate with the audience. We bring to the stage artists who\, through their ideologies\, convictions\, and strength of character\, were marginalized in their own time: “Are they all mad?” The works featured in the program are enriched with poems\, texts\, and anecdotes\, allowing the abstract power of music to create a space for emotion\, release\, and collective reflection. \n\nThis program builds a bridge between past and present\, celebrating visionary artists who sought\, through music\, to transform the world. Their works\, born in troubled times\, reflect deep convictions and powerful commitment. From Hasta Siempre by Carlos Puebla in 1965 to the innovative tangos of Piazzolla and Borges\, from the musical defiance of Nina Simone to the boldness of David Bowie in All the Madmen\, and the universal plea of Pau Casals in 1971\, these creations bear the mark of hope and resistance. Long before them\, Beethoven already dreamed of equality and universality through his works. As artists today\, we continue this pursuit by commissioning bold new works from composers around the world\, inspired by this legacy. Music\, whether from yesterday or today\, holds a mysterious power: the ability to transform\, to move us\, and to push us forward\, just as these timeless creators envisioned. \n\nFollowing the great success of the program Résonances — with more than 200 performances since 2020 — the duo Stick&Bow returns with a similar structure\, combining classical masterpieces and contemporary music\, featuring original arrangements for marimba and cello\, crafted and performed with passion\, energy\, subtlety\, and finesse. \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPart of the South Okanagan Concert Series \n\nFriday October 16 – Collage TradSunday November 15 – All the MadmenThursday January 21 – Aurora Piano TrioFriday April 2 – Virginia Sparvier-Wells Trio \n\nTICKETS:Individual Event – $352-3 Events – $29.50 each4 Events – $27 eachStudents – $5 \n\nBuy Series Tickets HereBuy Single Event Tickets Here

SUMMARY:The Barra MacNeil's East Coast Christmas
DESCRIPTION:About the Performance\n\nThe Barra MacNeils are very happy to be back out on the road and continuing to perform for sold out audiences throughout Canada\, the US.A.\, the Caribbean\, the United Kingdom and Europe. From headlining major festivals\, concerts\, television specials\, film and TV placement (Men With Brooms soundtrack) and of course their annual Xmas tour\, they have built a solid foundation for success. Their one hour Xmas TV special recorded a number of years ago\, continues to be broadcast on Country Music Television and on PBS in the United States during the holiday season. \n\nAs a group the MacNeil siblings are widely regarded as one of the greatest live concert acts in the Celtic world. Hailing from Sydney Mines\, Cape Breton Island\, the family group is deeply rooted in Celtic music\, culture\, dance\, language and history. Their numerous critically acclaimed recordings have included their own original songs as well as tried and true standards\, both instrumental and vocal. \n\nThe Barra MacNeil East Coast Christmas is a musical potpourri of traditional family favourites gleaned from Christmas ceilidhs\, midnight masses\, and the general festive frolic that accompanies each and every holiday season. With their captivating vocals\, distinctive harmonies and extraordinary musicianship\, the Barra’s inject new life and energy into the sights and sounds of Christmas….one moment a rousing chorus\, then a hauntingly beautiful Gaelic ballad\, followed by a flurry of foot-stomping instrumentals and some step dancing revelry. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS: $57\n\nBuy Tickets Here

Dawn spent her formative years surrounded by a family of multi-instrumentalists and developed a true love of music as a young girl. A staple of the West Coast music scene\, Dawn can be found tearing it up as a vocalist\, arranger\, and go-to for live performances and studio sessions. \n\nDawn is heavily influenced by rhythm. She is drawn to the percolating under current of soul–jazz and funk which is infused in everything that she does: “I’ve got a rhythmic stream running through me at all times. It’s all about the groove for me.” On leadoff single ‘Deeper’ soulful grooves meet swirling organs\, punchy horns\, and tight drum breaks that pay homage to Dawn’s roots in gospel but update the sound with a feel all her own. \n\nDawn Pemberton is the secret weapon of funk and soul groups all over Western Canada. Dawn has shared the stage with the likes of Maceo Parker\, Linda Tillery\, John Lee Sanders\, The Sojourners\, John Boutt and Dutch Robinson. SUMMARY:Aurora Piano Trio
DESCRIPTION:About the Performance \n\nThe Aurora Piano Trio has received praise for their passion\, exuberance\, and lyricism as well as sensational performances. Violinist Yuel Yawney and cellist Sungyong Lim\, members of the famed Borealis String Quartet\, joined together with the acclaimed pianist\, Libby Yu to form the Aurora Piano Trio. Each of the members of the Trio has performed around the world and bring their extensive chamber music experience together to create an ensemble of the highest calibre. \n\n \n\nFounded in 2019 and mentored by the great Canadian impresario\, George Zukerman\, the Trio has garnered much critical acclaim. Debuting for the Whistler Chamber Music Society in the Trio’s first season as part of a Western Canadian tour\, the remaining engagements were cancelled due to COVID. In 2021\, the Trio began rebooking engagements and that September was the season opening concert to a sold-out audience for the Cafe Classico Series at the Langley Community Music School. Since then\, the Trio has had numerous performances around BC\, from the Music by the Sea Festival in Victoria to standing ovations in Vancouver at the Orpheum ANNEX and the Centre Stage at Surrey City Hall. More recently\, the Aurora toured Vancouver Island performing in Port Alberni\, Hornby and Denman Islands\, as well as Qualicum Beach and Tofino and later presenting concerts in Eastern BC. Due to many audience requests\, the Aurora was invited back to perform at the Langley Community Music School for the Rose Gellert Hall Series. The Trio has also performed and taught at the recently inaugurated Cascade Peaks ChamberFest alongside artists from the Gryphon Trio\, New Orford and Borealis String Quartets. Among other highlights of this season was a thrilling performance of the Beethoven Triple Concerto with the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra. With bookings into 2025\, the Aurora Piano Trio continues to enthral audiences wherever they perform. \n\n \n\nPart of the South Okanagan Concert Series \n\nFriday October 16 – Collage TradSunday November 15 – All the MadmenThursday January 21 – Aurora Piano TrioFriday April 2 – Virginia Sparvier-Wells Trio \n\nTICKETS: \n\nIndividual Event – $352-3 Events – $29.50 eachStudents – $5 \n\nBuy Series Tickets Here \n\nBuy Single Event Tickets Here
