SUMMARY:Salmon Feast
DESCRIPTION:Join our Celebration and Honour the Sacredness of the River \n\nIt is one of the goals of the Syilx Okanagan Nation to carry on the work of the people’s ancestors and Elders who taught the importance of preserving and revitalizing the traditions\, customs\, and language of the Syilx people. The Salmon Feast honours the sacredness of the river at sx̌ʷəx̌ʷnitkʷ (Okanagan Falls)\, which is a culturally significant site for the Syilx Okanagan People\, and an important traditional fishing camp\, gathering place and trading site. The Salmon Feast is a three-day event that involves multiple activities including: ceremonies\, a canoe paddle\, and on Sunday a salmon feast and ceremony for snx̌aʔiwləm (to honour the sacredness of the river). \n\nThe Annual  Salmon Feast is an essential practice in the continued organized efforts of the Okanagan Nation Alliance and member communities to raise the importance of the habitat protection and rehabilitation of local ecosystems\, watersheds\, and renew connections and relationships between all residents of the Region with water and fish. It is vitally important that we honour the salmon so they will always come back to feed the people. DESCRIPTION:Come out and celebrate the harvest with Hester Creek Estate Winery’s annual Harvest Festival. We’ll be hosting local vendors\, wine specials\, live music\, wine by the glass or bottle on the lawn and a food truck. \n\nAs a family-friendly and complimentary event\, we invite you to gather with the community and celebrate the change in seasons with food\, wine and locally-made products as we welcome autumn to the Okanagan Valley. \n\nLocal vendors will have tents set up each day of the event from 12:00 to 4:00. Each vendor is bringing their unique products for you to purchase as gifts for loved ones or to add to your personal collection. A wine tent will be set up both days with two featured wines by the glass. Non-alcoholic options of bottled water and sodas will be available.

Please consider becoming a member. \n\nWith support from Oliver Tourism\, local wineries\, and a growing list of community partners\, Oliver Creates promises to be a vibrant\, welcoming event that brings together locals\, visitors\, and artists alike in a shared celebration of the arts. \n\nOliver Creates\, formerly known as the Fall Art Show & Sale\, has a new home at the Oliver Curling Centre. The OCAC is now able to be open from Friday to Sunday\, and open to the public for the duration of the Wine Capital Weekend festival. Previously\, the show had limited access to the public.
