SUMMARY:Live Music in the Plaza with Badgentina (District Wine Village)
DESCRIPTION:Complimentary Live Music in the Plaza every Friday\, Saturday & Sunday from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm.\nbadgentina is Stephen and Lisa Toon\, married folk-rockers who have been making music together for over 20 years. They write and perform songs full of story\, in the tradition of their favourite songwriters. Growing up on albums by the likes of Jackson Browne\, the Indigo Girls\, Neil Young and KD Lang\, Stephen and Lisa make music in this vein — there are the heartfelt and personal ballads and intimate secrets set to music\, alongside rally cries and straight-up celebration. The live show is not to be missed. The journey is real for all who partake\, both the artist and art-lover get caught up in the expression and process. \nThe Toons have played many venues big and small on their own and with other artists/projects\, locally in Western Canada and as far away as Macau and Mongolia. Around 2007\, while still living in Vancouver\, BC\, Canada\, badgentina took a long break. Over the next 10 years\, 4 boys and a dog named Raphi joined the family\, and then…it just felt right to get the ol’ badger train back on the tracks. The Toons formed Toonmade as their online Hub for all their goings on\, it represents their independent record label and production house. By 2019 it was clear that badgentina would record a new record. It had been about 13 years since they last released an album\, Brittle the Bed.

SUMMARY:Moving Lines (Phantom Creek Estates)
DESCRIPTION:Moving Lines\, hailing from the Okanagan\, BC\, bring a classic vibe from decades gone by that’s both inspirational and expressive … creating music that makes you FEEL!\nJill has one of those rare hard rock voices that reverberates with the echoes of Ann Wilson and Ellen McIlwaine\, that will send a tingle down your spine. If you love big female voices that can shake a stadium\, she has it. Kevin backs her up with impressive rhythmic guitar and deep soulful harmonies that blend techniques from their mentors to form original compositions. They are fueled with a lifelong passion for music inspired by sensations such as Big Wreck\, Heart\, Aretha Franklin\, Sass Jordan\, Nina Simone\, Alice in Chains\, Chris Cornell and Ghost. Music is art … they are ‘Painters Of Sound’

SUMMARY:BA Johnston Concert (Firehall Brewery)
DESCRIPTION:Firehall Brewery is proud to present… the infamous BA Johnston!\n\nWho should we believe: Wikipedia\, or the man himself? Let’s see what Wikipedia has to say… “B.A. Johnston\, is a Canadian comedic musician and performance artist based in Hamilton\, Ontario. He began touring around Canada in 2002\, performing songs that are often comedic in nature and include pop cultural references to sports teams\, junk food\, and video games. Accompanying himself on guitar and keyboard\, he performed as the character B.A. (Bored Again) Johnston who lives at home with his mother. Johnston’s 2010 album Thank You for Being a Friend appeared on the !Earshot National Top 50 Chart. Exclaim! magazine described it as “simplistic synth-pop and aggressive acoustic folk.” A feature article about Johnston in the Globe And Mail acknowledged his polarizing status in the Canadian music scene\, noting that for some he is a “modern-age Stompin’ Tom Connors.” However\, unlike Connors\, Johnston’s references to life in modern-day Canada are exaggeratedly irreverent and unromanticised\, featuring ironic swipes at large Canadian institutions like Foodland\, No Frills\, and Tim Hortons. As of 2022\, Johnston continues to tour across Canada\, performing his energetic and humorous show.”\n\nBut you know the internet these days… so we went straight to the source. Here is BA Johnston’s autobiographical take on his professional music career: “B.A. Johnston has been playing “music” throughout Canada since the dawn of time. He is best known for being the human inspiration for The Littlest Hobo and once ate three Baconators on a bet. He can be found at some crappy bar near you playing for a nominal cover charge\, which people pay even though ‘they only want to come in and have some wings.’ “\nYou can decide for yourself on June 9th\, for a nominal cover charge of $15 (that you should probably pay online in advance). If there’s one thing you should not let your social media feed distract you from\, it’s getting your tickets here!\nThis event is “rain or shine\,” though extreme weather will trigger a cancellation. Event cancellation due to extreme weather will be notified by email and on the Facebook event page\, with refunds to follow.\nPLEASE READ\nSeating will be limited and first-come-first-serve.\nNo alcohol from outside the premises is permitted. Door security will check bags for alcohol\, and alcohol consumption is not permitted outside the concert area (ex: parking lot\, alleyway\, etc).\nTickets are non-refundable (except in the rare event of concert cancellation).
