SUMMARY:Live Music in the Plaza with Chayce Kennedy (District Wine Village)
DESCRIPTION:Complimentary Live Music in the Plaza every Friday\, Saturday & Sunday from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm.\nIn the last two years\, Chayce has written over a hundred songs\, and has just released her fifth single\, “Dance Again\,” on all major platforms. Having worked with Grammy award-winning producer Brian West (known for his work with Sia\, Maroon 5\, Andy Grammer\, and Nelly Furtado just to name a few) and Juno award-winning producer Ryan Stewart (Carley Rae Jepson\, Jocelyn Alice\, Carys\, and Tyler Shaw)\, Chayce is using these opportunities to move her musical creativity forward. \nDuring the 2022 hot summer months\, Chayce performed in front of thousands of concert attendees\, performing 16 solo events\, and even more with her band. Her fan base continues to grow\, through messages of encouragement\, engagement\, and empowerment. One core belief that Chayce frequently repeats to others is\, “your own value is not determined by what others might think of you”. Against the confusing and confounding messages found within the ubiquitous social media machine\, the very personal and empowering messages within Chayce’s music will continue to resonate with listeners\, especially young women struggling to discover and enjoy their own unique identity and purpose.

DESCRIPTION:Venables Theatre is thrilled to announce an exciting weeklong dance residency featuring the acclaimed talents of Marco Esccer and Ysadora Dias\, culminating in a captivating open dress rehearsal on June 7th at 6:00 PM. This special event is free for the public to attend\, offering a unique opportunity to witness the innovative creative process of Marco Esccer and Ysadora Dias. Venables Theatre\, in partnership with Dance West Network is supporting work being created by professional IBPOC artists\, allowing them the much-needed space to create\, and giving our community an opportunity to experience this creative process.\n\nAbout the Artists:\nSince 2021\, Marco Esccer (he/him) and Ysadora Dias (she/her) have been making waves in the interdisciplinary performance scene\, exploring themes of migration\, language\, family\, and queerness through their collaborative work. Their upcoming presentation will showcase excerpts prepared for the highly anticipated STAND Festival 2024\, giving audiences an exclusive preview of their evocative performances.\nMarco Esccer is a queer Mexican dance artist\, writer\, and Dance Movement Therapist with a rich background in both the technical and therapeutic realms of dance. Holding a bachelor’s degree in Ballet from Mexico City’s National Ballet and Contemporary School\, Marco’s diverse certifications include Research\, Experimentation\, Contemporary Art Production\, and Dance Movement Therapy. His work has been showcased with Co.Erasga\, Coastal City Ballet\, and Dance West Networks\, among others. Marco currently freelances as an artist and embodiment facilitator\, serves as Communications & Programs Coordinator at New Works\, and is the Artist in Residence at the Roundhouse for 2023-24.\n​Ysadora Dias is a Brazilian dance artist based in Vancouver\, with extensive training in contemporary dance\, ballet\, and Brazilian dances. A graduate of Escolas de Danças de Caraguá\, Ysadora has performed with CBMC Dance Company and the collective “Pé na Areia” in Brazil\, and with Coastal City Ballet in Vancouver. She is a member of Amok Project and has collaborated with several prominent artists and companies\, including Co.Erasga and MascallDance. Currently\, Ysadora is an artist in residence at Dance West Network’s Re-Centering Margins Creative Residency for 2024.\n\nAttend Venables Theatre on June 7th at 6:00 PM to immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Marco and Ysadora’s creative exploration. This open showing will provide glimpses of their innovative work\, along with a chance to engage directly with the artists\, ask questions\, and gain insights into their creative journey.
